Bernardo Collado López nace en 1943 en Jerez de la Frontera, España, donde vive y trabaja en la actualidad.
Aunque comienza su vida profesional como Ingeniero Técnico de Minas, una casual visita al Museo del Prado le conmovería profundamente haciendo que se sintiera atraído por las artes visuales. Tras ser premiado en un certamen internacional de fotografía, decide dedicarse por completo a su vocación artística, comenzando como fotoreportero en un periódico local. En estos años crea un estudio de fotografía artística e industrial, trabajando muy intensamente como fotógrafo publicitario para grandes empresas bodegueras de Jerez.
Su talante reivindicativo le lleva a crear la Asociación Provincial de Fotógrafos Profesionales de Cádiz, de la que es elegido presidente. Paralelamente, en 1976 comienza su labor como profesor de dibujo lineal en la Escuela de Artes y Oficios de Jerez, donde desarrolla una intensa y destacada carrera, alcanzando su auge con la fundación de la Asociación de Escuelas de Arte de Andalucía, de la cual es elegido primer presidente.
En 1984 promueve la creación de una de las primeras vídeo productoras profesionales de Andalucía. Durante años desarrolla una gran actividad como conferenciante y dirige numerosos programas sobre fotografía y arte en la radio y la televisión.
En 2003, cuando se jubila anticipadamente, crea dos estudios municipales de artes plásticas en Facinas y Tarifa. Es a partir de esta época cuando se dedica por completo a las artes plásticas, realizando varias exposiciones que tienen gran éxito en Tarifa, Jerez de la Frontera y Algeciras.
Bernardo se autodefine como "artífice" más que como pintor. Como Catedrático de Artes Plásticas y Diseño, entiende que su pasión creativa por las artes plásticas y visuales se centra en la experimentación y en la investigación en este campo.
Es un apasionado de su trabajo. Sus grandes aficiones son el cine, la navegación y la pesca. Tiene dos hijas, cuatro nietos y un perro a los que adora.
Espíritu libre, mente inquieta que nunca deja de idear.
No le gusta poner etiquetas a su obra. Su objetivo es sorprender, inquietar, hacer reflexionar y crear una reacción en el espectador; provocar admiración o rechazo, cualquier sentimiento menos la indiferencia.
Su receta para lograr sus metas y objetivos personales son la ilusión, el esfuerzo, el trabajo y la perseverancia.
ENGLISH BIOGRAPHY
Bernardo Collado López is born in 1943 in Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz, Spain, where he still lives and works.
Although he begins his professional life working as a technical Mining engineer, a casual visit to the Prado Museum would deeply move him, making him feel drawn to the visual arts. After being awarded in an international photography competition, he decides to dedicate himself completely to his artistic vocation, starting as a photojournalist for a local newspaper. In these years he establishes an artistic and industrial photography studio, working very intensively as an advertising photographer for large Jerez winery companies. He also founds the Provincial Association of Professional Photographers of Cádiz, of which he is elected President.
At the same time, in 1976 he becomes a teacher of Line Drawing at the School of Arts and Crafts in Jerez, where he develops an intense and outstanding professional career, reaching its peak with the founding of the Association of Schools of Arts of Andalusia, of which he is elected first President.
In 1984 he creates one of the first professional video production companies in Andalusia. In this stage, he is very active as a lecturer and directs multiple photographic and artistic programs on radio and television.
In 2003 he retires early and creates two Municipal Plastic Arts Studios in Facinas and Tarifa. It is at this time when he dedicates himself to plastic arts, with several highly successful exhibitions in Tarifa, Jerez de la Frontera and Algeciras.
Bernardo defines himself as an "artifice" rather than as a painter. His creative passion for the plastic and visual arts focuses on experimentation and the research in this field.
He is passionate about his work. His great hobbies are cinema, sailing and fishing. He has two daughters, four grandchildren and a dog whom he adores.

He does not like to label his work. Its objective is to surprise, disturb, make people reflect and create a reaction in the viewer; provoke admiration or rejection, any feeling except indifference.
