SUPERMAN Y BATMAN (Acrílico / lienzo – 2 x 65,5 x 81,5 cm   2017)

Superman es la Luz. Siempre es brillante, espectacular, virtuoso y, al ser extraterrestre, tan superior al resto de los mortales que se puede permitir ser noble, caballeroso y magnánimo. En el fondo, Supermán es simplón, elemental y algo torpe debido, quizás, a que no termina de comprender la compleja naturaleza humana. Carece de trasfondo y de tonalidades.

Batman, por contra, es la Sombra. Su éxito se debe, fundamentalmente, a su astucia e inteligencia. Batman no puede ir a pecho descubierto como Superman; debe camuflarse en las tinieblas y recurrir a su arsenal. Batman es un ser complejo, controlador, duro y lleno de matices.

Pero, en el fondo, ambos son iguales. O casi.

Superman is Light. He is always shining, spectacular, virtuoso, and, being extraterrestrial, so superior to the rest of us mortals that he can be noble, gentlemanly and magnanimous. Ultimately, Superman is simple, elemental and somewhat clumsy owing, perhaps, to his not completely understanding the complexity of human nature. He lacks depth and subtlety.

Batman, on the other hand, is Darkness. His success owes, fundamentally, to his astuteness and intelligence. Batman can’t go bare-chested, like Superman; he has to camouflage in the shadows and resort to his arsenal. Batman is a complex being, controlling, hard, and full of nuances.

But, fundamentally, both are equal. Or almost.
